Frequently asked questions
How can I access my Notes when outside the car?
You can access your Notes and many other in-car functions when you're outside the car by just tapping the Tessa icon in the top left corner of the screen.
Why do some controls only appear when I'm near the car?
Vehicle commands require a Bluetooth connection. Some widgets can show saved or internet data, but controls need a live car connection.
How does the alarm work?
Tessa can only flash lights or honk the horn when it has a Bluetooth connection to the car.
When you're in Bluetooth range, holding Alarm starts the alarm immediately.
When you're out of Bluetooth range, holding Alarm arms it instead. The alarm will start automatically once you get close enough for Bluetooth.
Why does Find My Car not always work with my non-Tesla car?
For non-Teslas, the park position your phone gives us is often off by 20–40 yards or more.
On Android, Tessa can try to save a phone GPS location when it detects you parked — but that fix can still be inaccurate. On iPhone, the automatic parking location iOS provides is so poor that Tessa ignores it.
For better guidance on either platform, press Set Target when you park.
What is the shaded wedge on the compass arrow?
It reflects your phone's GPS and compass accuracy — the wider the wedge, the less certain the direction. The car is somewhere inside the shaded area. Accuracy improves outside, away from metal and electronics. The wedge disappears when accuracy is good.
What does "tad low" mean as a tire warning?
It just means the tire is 5–10% below your placard pressure. Not dangerous, but less than optimal.
Why is Max heat/cool more effective at some times than others?
"I'm giving her all she's got, Captain." Mostly depends on how warmed up the heating/cooling system is at the time of the request.
Why don't you…?
Tessa is limited to what Tesla exposes over Bluetooth Low Energy. We'd love to add more widgets — glove compartment is a top request — but Tesla doesn't expose those commands over BLE yet. If they ever do, we'll add them.
Having a specific problem?
If something isn't working and the FAQ above doesn't help, email support@pc-magic.com.
For technical issues, open Help & FAQ in the app and use Send diagnostic report first. That uploads a sanitized activity log (precise location, VIN, MAC addresses, and keys are scrubbed when possible; an anonymous install ID, build, and platform are included). Don't put secrets in the optional comment.
Then email us with a short description of what went wrong — mention that you sent a report so we can match it up.
